Birmingham, AL HVAC Testing Adjusting and Balancing Technician
Opportunity: SAI is currently seeking individuals for an immediate opening as an entry level or experienced  TAB technician. The technician will work with a Certified TAB technician to perform Testing Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) and Commissioning (Cx) of commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems using specialized tools and test equipment.  This person will receive direction and mentorship by the project manager and a Certified TAB technician.

SAI is seeking an individual who is willing to train and work towards becoming a certified TAB technician through NEBB and ABBC. Job Responsibilities:

  • Review contract documents and preform TAB as directed by Certified TAB technician and/or project manager.
  • Read building blueprints to determine air and water flow balancing requirements.
  • Visit project site to review job conditions, coordinate and discuss TAB process with other trade professionals at project site.
  • Perform field testing of HVAC Systems using established NEBB procedures with company provided testing equipment, manufacturer software and general math skills
  • Perform all testing and balancing functions on the air and water systems using specialized equipment software and NEBB balancing procedures.
  • Use Specialized tools such as AirData multimeter, Hydrodata multimeter, flow hood, pitot tube, tachometer, voltmeter, amp clamp, etc.
  • Document all test results with true and accurate methods using company documentation procedures
  • Perform all tasks assigned by project manager.
  • Communicate any deficiencies or recommendations to supervisor and client.
  • Complete all projects and tasks assigned in a timely manner and on schedule.
  • Participate in training as directed in testing procedures and use of equipment, controls, and HVAC systems.
  • Travel may be required for projects up to 40% of the time.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Confident working on ladders, lifts, rooftops, or in tight spaces during all seasons
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Flexibility and self- discipline to work overtime and or weekends as required
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Drivers License with a good driving record
  • All Employees subject to background checks and drug testing to qualify for special projects.

Preferred Skills

  • Test and Balance and/or HVAC experience preferred
  • TAB Certification preferred but willing to train the right candidate for certification.
